A rare opportunity has arisen for a full-time Mortuary Preparation Assistant to join our Mortuary team. The role has the potential to progress to a Trainee Embalmer position if the successful person can demonstrate the following in their performance:

  1. commitment and care in the quality of their work (to the standards sought by Bowra & O’Dea);
  2. follow Mortuary procedures;
  3. follow all Company policies and procedures; and
  4. possess the aptitude, passion and qualities (includes skill and communication style) considered necessary to be a Trainee Embalmer and Qualified Embalmer in the future.

 

The Mortuary Preparation Assistant role includes: preparation of deceased in readiness for viewings and funerals; assisting with the trimming/preparation of coffins as required; administrative tasks (eg record keeping and release of deceased); and may be required to assist families with the dressing of the deceased.

The successful applicant must have the right to work and live in Australia, be committed to maintaining a high standard of mortuary hygiene and cleanliness, have knowledge and experience of Infectious Disease Control requirements and be willing to acknowledge and accommodate the practices of all religions and cultures.

It is also a requirement to be physically fit and possess a valid WA driver’s licence that is not of provisional status, with excellent driving record.

We have a rare opportunity for a qualified, full-time Embalmer, eligible for accreditation by the AIE, to join the Mortuary team in Perth, Western Australia; undertaking approximately 2,000 embalmings per year.

The successful applicant must have the right to work and live in Australia, experience working with a team of qualified embalmers, undertaking all aspects of mortuary work whilst understanding the valuable role the Mortuary plays in a funeral home. A high standard of embalming practice is essential, together with attention to detail and the possession/retention of emotional and physical fitness to perform the duties of the position.
