We urge all members to use correct precautions at every step of the handling of the deceased together with the proper use of PPE. We highly recommend  that you also conduct a thorough disinfection of all workplace surfaces and instruments and  limit access to the mortuary by unnecessary personnel at all times.  For further information in regards to PPE please see the section Protective Clothing/Equipment for Embalmers and their Assistants/Trainees of the Infection Control Guidelines attached.

To further reduce the risk we recommend that there should be as long a delay as practical before commencing any preparation of the body.

Is a viewing possible?

A deceased person that has been embalmed and disinfected to the required standard greatly reduces any possible risk to funeral staff and or family members.
